This was the video for the group performance from a few weeks ago- Soyon An recreated this number last night for the finale and added all the top 20 dancers.... this was one of my favorite group numbers of the season. I like Kayla's outfit the best I think.

Vera Ellen in detail

Probably the most popular hits I get on this bloggie o mine is my posts on Vera Ellen- who knew she had such a following!

Well for all those searching out there, I finally found some nice detail images of the favorite Vera Ellen costume, that Edith Head creation that she wears for the 'Mandy' number in White Christmas.

Vera Ellen in a photo shoot for the Mandy number. There looks like there are some ruffles on the front leg hole that have maybe fallen apart over the years. Organza is not a fabric that usually stands the test of time.

 

We know that that train goes over that bustle to come off later, but I'm guessing they wanted to show as much as possible in the picture. I wish the gloves came with it!

Last week on the results show of the Top 10 competition, was a fantastic Wade Robson routine that really was the best group routine of the season:

So You Think You Can Dance Costume crunch

M favorite show of all time is So You Think You Can Dance. Every Wednesday and Thursday night I run in my house in a fever pitch waiting breathlessly to watch it on my DVR. Each piece is like it's own mini-showcase. There's something you are bound to LOVE and probably something you'll love to hate.

  

The costumes often make (or break) a piece. It really tells you what this piece is about and helps the story. I mean really, how many mini black dance booty shorts can one handle in a season??

Here is a great interview with Soyon An, the costume designer for So You Think You Can Dance and the female talent of American Idol... man the time crunch is insane! Enough for you to even forgive that awful alien thing that came out this season... you know the thing I'm talking about.
