I drew the kids at my brother's recital when I went home a couple of weeks ago. Usually I draw with a pen but lately I've been trying out pencil. Sounds weird I know- but in the past few years I've been preferring the control feeling of a pen. Pencil has kind of a throwaway- feeling to it that tends to lose something for me. But I think it's good to try new techniques- each one of these portraits is a different feeling.
Work from my figure class... we're learning Watercolor 101. Nice to rehash the basics because my previous watercolor work was kinda sloppy. Nice lesson in gradation and layering color today.
There's this new kid, Jason, in my figure drawing class. He always wears interesting hats and textures and is very interesting to draw. He always has that drol look on his face too.
This guy was so perfect I had to draw him on the F train today.... the more I looked at him, the more I realized maybe he was undercover. He was a little too perfect looking. And totally did not smell.
